Grandview Scarecrow
Guarding the Organic Garden

We make every effort to cook with organic and all natural locally grown food and when seasonally available, fresh vegetables and herbs from our garden. We do not use any pesticides on our garden and manage our farm with healthy sustainable organic practices. We have beehives and our honey bees work hard pollinating the wildflowers and garden flowers.  Our eggs, butter and meats come from farms we know who treat their pasture-raised free range animals humanely and do not use antibiotics or preservatives. Healthly local all natural and organic farm production produces food much richer in vital omega fats (the healthy kind) and more minerals and proteins than its industrial counterpart, is less taxing on our environment, is protective of our water sources, saves energy with less transport and supports our local economy.   Eat healthy & enjoy!

Note: The farmhouse kitchen is always closed Thanksgiving weekend and usually closed for other major holidays but always check with us. "Papa Phil" is a great cook but he needs an occasional weekend off to recharge his batteries too, so every once in a while you might find the "gone fishing" sign up at the kitchen door but we'll do all we can to let you know well in advance of our playing hooky days.

There are many grocery stores & restaurants for all budgets within a country drive. Phone books and lists in the cottage are available with lots of choices. Highly Recommended for a special gourmet occasion: Historic Fehn House (Dayton) & Halcyon Days (Crossville).  Other picks in Crossville : Forte's on the Square and the Cumberland State Park Buffet on weekends and basic country fare at our Red Barn in Spring City.

We are a dry county so suggest you bring your wine or beer or celebration drink with you.  Laura's in Harriman on Hwy 27 North has the best wine selection and a package store just opened in Crossville (corner of Miller Bypass and West Ave) that offers one of our favorite organic wines called Our Daily Red.  Either store is a 25 minute drive.
